Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Electric mixer
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Cookie cutters (stadium shapes)
  • 1 Cooling rack
  • 1 Piping bags
  • 1 Food coloring

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the *flour*, *baking powder*, and *salt*. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together *butter* and *granulated sugar* until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the *egg*, *vanilla extract*, and *almond extract* until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough into two portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. On a floured surface, roll out one portion of the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Use cookie cutters to cut out stadium shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  11. Once cookies are completely cool, prepare your royal icing and divide it into separate bowls for coloring.
  12. Add *food coloring* to the icing to create your desired colors for decoration.
  13. Using piping bags, decorate the cookies with royal icing and add *sprinkles* if desired.

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store the decorated cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For best results, avoid stacking them to prevent smudging of decorations.
Variations:
- Use flavored extracts such as lemon or peppermint for a unique twist.
- Try different cookie shapes like footballs or jerseys for more variety.
- Make gluten-free cookies by substituting all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
